The Picnic Train
The Picnic Train™ is committed to bringing a little bit of an escape back into people’s lives. We have set out some guidelines in conjunction with NSW Health enabling us to run tours during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) period.
We now have a range of tours on sale for late spring and early summer 2021, with trips starting at Maitland and heading to Gloucester and Dungog behind steam locomotive 5917. The train will then come to Sydney, where we will have steam train rides from Gosford to Hawkesbury River and the return of our signature Kiama Picnic Train™.
Initially, as we emerge from lockdown, we are required to have certain conditions in place. We have already had experience with many of these. During the spring of 2020 and into 2021, we managed to run a whole range of Picnic Trains with social distancing practices that made the trains less crowded and even more enjoyable than our usual trips!
Additionally from social distancing, QR code check-in is mandatory and all passengers over the age of 16 will be required to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated (unless exempt). When booking, please make sure all your group will have had their second jab before the tour date.
Face Mask wearing will largely depend on the NSW Government regulations at the time, but we ask that masks be worn when boarding, alighting and moving around the train.
As we head into 2022, we have a full rage of exciting tours to new destinations — and even some multi-day tours, plus a new steam engine added to our fleet!
Gift Certificates for The Picnic Train are now available with a range of values from $25. All Gift certificates will be honoured for up to 3 years from the date of purchase.
