Inaugural R766 Picnic Trains

Maitland–Singleton–Camberwell (return)

Saturday, 19 March 2022

Sunday, 20 March 2022

Be one of the first to ride behind steam locomotive R766 on a journey through the Hunter Valley from Maitland to Singleton, plus Camberwell ballon loop (return) on Saturday, 19 March or Sunday, 20 March 2022.

You have a choice of morning or afternoon trips each day and the choice of alighting at Singleton for a short stay in town or staying on the train while it is turned at Camberwell.

Ex-Victorian Railways steam locomotive R766 has recently entered service as a standard-gauge locomotive, having been converted from the broad-gauge used throughout Victoria at the time the locomotive was built in the 1950s. R766 is the first such locomotive to be gauge-converted, making it a very unique steam locomotive indeed!
